Hot Mango dress for autumn

Just a quick one this evening... but on discovering this gorgeous new offering from Mango, I felt I had to share.

This caramel number is part of Mango's gorge new autumn/winter collection which is well worth a look. It almost makes me feel better about the prospect of waving goodbye to summer... almost that is.

It's now available to buy, at £69.90

It's couture season!

With no holidays in sight and several particularly tedious days in the office, things were looking bleak. Until John Galliano brought the joy back into my life with his collection for Dior Haute Couture.

Oh the dresses. The big, beautiful, floral-inspired dresses! Now this is what haute couture is all about. Complete, unabashed eccentricity. Full skirts, bold brights, all with a Galliano twist.

Turning the runway into an Alice in Wonderland style garden, Galliano fused bright colours with beautiful organza fabrics, billowing out to create petal-effect skirts and ruffles on everything.

If this is what Autumn/Winter 2011 looks like, I'd like it to hurry up!

Pearl Lowe for Peacocks

Pearl Lowe. Everyone's least favourite groupie. So what were the people at Peacocks thinking when they signed up the old hasbeen to design a collection for the store? Did they get confused between mum and her uber-cool daughter, Daisy? Maybe they opted for the latter but in these post-recession times, couldn't quite stump up the cash.

Whatever the reasoning, Pearl has created a collection suited to girls younger than her aforementioned offspring. And she's done a pretty good job. Tea dresses, pleated skirts and cute vintage-inspired bags make up the basis with floral prints adorning all.

So, if Pearl Lowe's name isn't enough to have you pegging it down to your nearest Peacocks, maybe this snapshot will be.

1. Pleated denim skirt - £18
2. Ribbon detail dress - £30
3. Moc croc red vanity case - £25

One to save for

Oh how I love a designer/Toppers collaboration. Alright, so it has been done to death but there's always room for another big-label barg in your wardrobe.

The latest offering comes from Brit-Francais duo, Meadham Kirchhoff. Reportedly inspired by their 22-year-old assistant, their 14-piece capsule collection for Topshop is a mixture of ultra-feminine lace, chiffon and sequins beautifully emblazoned on a selection of frocks and jackets.

Priced slightly higher than your usual high-street-does-designer attempt, this dress is one to save for, but we reckon it'll take you right through to Autumn/Winter 2010. Just dig out your biker boots, leather jacket and wooly tights and you'll have a brand new look come September.

Meadham Kirchhoff - Sequin crop top dress - £250

The bag of summer

For festivals, shopping and even the office - there's only one way to lug your stuff around this summer, and that's in a satchel.

If you're minted, there's Mulberry's lust-have Alexa bag, named after Miss Chung herself. But if you can't quite afford the hefty £695 price tag, there are some purse-friendly options that still scream geek chic (in a good way!)

1. Medium Lola satchel bag - Internacionale - £14.99
2. Sam Sporan satchel - H! by Henry Holland at Debenhams - £35
3. Leather satchel - Asos.com - £65
4. Canvas panelled satchel - Oasis - £35
5. Medium leather buckle satchel - Topshop - £50

Today I would like these please

Apologies. It seems that when writing my post on wooden heels the other week, I inadvertently left out the best of the bunch. Today I found them.

No doubt, they are the most beautiful shoes I have seen in a while but clogs are just so fashiony. Will I regret forking out £160 0n a pair when come autumn, they will be in every mag's 'going out' list?

I fear lust will outweigh longevity on this occasion.

WWMD - What would Madonna do?

The underwear-as-outerwear trend is in full swing and who better to turn to for inspiration than the queen of lace and lingerie - Madonna!

Jean Paul Gaultier was behind the iconic conical bra Madge was so famed for wearing back in 1990 and this season, the catwalks have seen a revival of Madonna-inspired trends. As well as Gaultier adapting some of his early nineties designs to create a new rocket-cone bra for Spring/Summer '10, other designers have been quick to incorporate underwear as outerwear into their collections.

Marc Jacobs chose fifties-shaped bras in pastel colours and silky fabrics. House of Holland rocked denim corsets over lacey all-in-ones and Bottega Veneta teemed boned corsets with sharp tailoring.

If you're unsure how to merge this trend into your day to day, we've got a few pointers. A cropped corset top doesn't mean baring your belly. Wearing one over a simple vest or t-shirt will preserve your modesty while maintaining your style status. Some lacey gloves added to an already top-notch outfit will provide a subtle Madonna-esque nod to the trend and a lace body paired with a blazer and trouser combo will provide a beautiful contrast between masculine tailoring and sexy lace body-con.

There's really no need to spend a fortune to start sporting your undies as outies either - the high street have brilliant offerings. Here are some of my personal faves.
1. Topshop - Lace panelled body in caramel - £20
2. Urban Outfitters - Extended dot corset bra - £12.99
3. New Look - Side frill lace gloves - £4

Must-have maxis

Nicole Richie, Rachel off Glee... the list of celebs stepping out in maxi dresses this season is increasing by the day.

Why? Because they are the perfect attire for a British summer day. No sporting of pasty legs, no awkward leg-crossing in a park situation and they are so much chicer than a mini.

The high-street is practically bursting with desireable maxis so grab your sunnies and take your pick.

1. French Connection - Safari floral maxi dress - £75
2. Topshop - Love slogan maxi dress - £32
3. ASOS.com - Maxi dress - £50

Clippidy clog

Clogs are the shoe of summer and thank God the high street have provided us with something to make us feel better about not being able to afford those Chanels.

Still unsure about something so clumpy? Well, there's no doubt, some clogs are just plain ugly but here are a few pairs that make us feel more Alexa Chung than Swedish schoolchild.

1. ASOS.com - Slingback clog - £75
2. Miss Selfridge - Pink floral tie clog - £45
3. Topshop - Seanna closed-toe clogs - £68

Wedding, much?

It's official. I've got to that age. Suddenly wedding season actually means something to me and along with worrying about the fact that I will be an eternal 'Miss', comes stresses about what to wear to each of 2010's nuptials.

If any of you find yourself in a similar sitch may I suggest this gorgeous offering from Oasis. It's a bit pricey but on the right silhouette (currently a work in progress), it will bring that wedding wow factor that should really only be reserved for the bride.

On trend and classy, this might just be my very first wedding investment.

My only sales buy

I'm not sure what happened this year, I've completely failed at buying anything bargainous in the sales. Until yesterday when I made a panic purchase.

I'm a bit concerned that I've just wasted £87, especially as Spring is all about everything feminine and delicate, but we shall see. Opinions please. Nice or a little bit scary?

All Saints - Amarante Boot - Was £175, Now £87.50
